Abbelight SAFe-360

Abbelight SAFe-360

The Abbelight SAFe-360 is a multi-colour single-molecule localisation microscopy (SMLM) platform built on a Nikon Ti2 inverted microscope body. It supports widefield, HiLo, and TIRF imaging across three fluorescence channels, with continuously tunable illumination angles and an Optospin filter wheel for fast, automated filter switching between measurements. The system is co-mounted with the Nikon A1 confocal on the same microscope body, so users can run SMLM and confocal acquisitions on a single sample, individually or simultaneously. The Abbelight platform was upgraded from SAFe 180 to SAFe-360 in early 2026.

Capabilities

  • Techniques: STORM, PALM, DNA-PAINT, and widefield-based super-resolution methods
  • Illumination modes: epi-fluorescence, HiLo, TIRF (continuously tunable laser angle)
  • Lasers: 488 nm, 532 nm, 637 nm (3 channels, simultaneous or individual excitation)
  • Filters: Optospin filter wheel for automated multi-channel switching
  • Objectives: 60x TIRF and 100x TIRF
  • Live-cell imaging: Okolab Top-stage Incubator (temperature, humidity, CO2)
  • Body: Nikon Ti2 inverted microscope, shared with the Nikon A1 confocal
